About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking experienced CDL B Roll Off Garbage Truck Drivers for their Stamford, CT location. This is a full-time position with steady, year-round work, Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday hours. Drivers are responsible for safely operating roll-off trucks to pick up large metal containers filled with waste or recyclable material and transporting them to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities. The role requires navigating congested communities and tight areas, performing skilled backing maneuvers, and frequently climbing in and out of the truck cab. Drivers must also perform pre and post-trip inspections and ensure their vehicle complies with safety standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age and legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Valid Class A or B CDL with Airbrake Endorsement.
  • 1 year of CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Must be able to drive a Manual Transmission.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR.
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations.
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to converse with the general public, understand highway traffic & signals, respond to official questions & make legible entries on reports & records.
  • Ability to read & understand a map.
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate roll-off trucks for the pick-up service of large metal containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility.
  • Make one or more trips throughout the shift.
  • Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
  • Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Climb in and out of the truck cab multiple times per route.
  • Perform driver pre and post inspections.
  • Ensure truck follows IWS’s safety standards, OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.
