About The Position

Interstate Waste Services is seeking a CDL B Roll Off Garbage Truck Driver for their Stamford, CT location. This role is focused on safety and involves the pick-up and transportation of waste or recyclable materials in large metal containers. Drivers will transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities, potentially making multiple trips per shift. The company utilizes both manual and automatic trucks. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, move and maneuver up to 100 pounds, and repeatedly mount and dismount the truck. Drivers may navigate congested communities and tight areas, requiring skilled backing maneuvers. Pre and post-trip inspections are mandatory to ensure compliance with IWS safety standards, OSHA, DOT regulations, and local traffic laws.

Requirements

  • 21 Years of Age & Legally Eligible to Work in the United States
  • Valid Class A or B CDL
  • Airbrake Endorsement
  • 1-year CDL driving experience in the last 7 years.
  • Great Safety Record and Clean MVR
  • Working Knowledge of DOT, OSHA & Applicable Traffic Regulations
  • Ability to Speak & Read English to Converse with the General Public, understand Highway Traffic & Signals, Respond to Official Questions & Make Legible Entries on Reports & Records
  • Ability to Read & Understand a Map
  • Meet Physical & Safety Requirements of the Position.
  • Willing & Able to Work Required Worked Hours as Allowed Under DOT Regulation & May Include Weekend, Night &/Or Holiday Work.
  • Must be able to drive a Manual Transmission
  • 1 year Roll Off experience is REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a Driver for a Refuge Company is Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate Roll Off Trucks for the pick-up service of large metal containers filled with waste or recyclable material.
  • Transport material to a disposal, transfer, or recycling facility.
  • Perform driver pre and post inspections.
  • Ensure truck follows IWS’s safety standards as well as OSHA and DOT regulations, and local traffic laws, prior to and while operating the vehicle.
  • Climb in and out of the truck cab to service customer accounts.
  • Perform highly skilled backing maneuvers.
  • Navigate through congested communities and confined or tight areas in city locations.
