Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to obtain a D.O.T. Medical Certificate
  • 2 years of previous tractor trailer driving experience including winter driving experience (equivalent Military DD214 experience is acceptable)
  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving
  • Customer relations skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Must be able to load and unload items, with and without dollies, in various types of weather
  • Prolonged periods sitting in a trailer cab for long periods of time
  • Must be able to travel frequently
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hands on delivery experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Transport, deliver, and/or unload windows and doors to customers in a safe and timely manner to our dealers, distribution centers, and/or construction job sites using a tractor trailer.
  • Reviews load sheet and load for the day’s deliveries.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the equipment. Reports any issues to Supervisor.
  • Fuels the vehicle and authorizes fuel bill.
  • Transports materials in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Observes all DOT regulations, rules of the road, and defensive driving techniques.
  • Locates customer’s business/residence and confers with client as to where to unload materials.
  • Safely unloads materials, checks quality, reviews packing slip with customer, and secures customer signature.
  • Deals with customers in a courteous and professional fashion and accommodates customers’ requests whenever possible.
  • Picks up materials from vendors, and checks and verifies quality and quantity of materials before receipt.
  • Returns to plant and unloads vehicle.
  • Rotates functions with the department as needed and assigned by Supervisor. Works as a contributing member of the department team.
  • Performs all functions according to sound safety principles, company policies, and procedures.
  • Notifies Shipping Supervisor of any existing or potential safety issues.
  • Report any incidents and accidents promptly.
  • Completes all necessary paperwork and documentation neatly, timely, and accurately including driver’s logs, timecards, etc.
  • Must meet company appearance standards.
  • Communicates effectively across and within company departments.
  • Maintains good housekeeping in the department.
  • Scan all product via handheld device provided.
  • All other duties as assigned.
