About The Position

SA Recycling is one of the largest scrap metal recyclers in the United States and is experiencing significant growth. We are looking for a CDL Class A Heavy Driver to join our team. Safety is our top priority for this role. The Truck Driver's primary responsibility is to transport materials efficiently. This involves driving a Roll off/semi-truck to customer locations, collecting loaded containers, and returning empty ones. Experience with end dumps is required. Drivers must maintain professionalism when interacting with customers and their employees, adhere to all DOT Regulations, follow in-yard rules for driving in close quarters, and obey traffic controllers. Seat belt usage is mandatory at all times while driving, and drivers must be visible on camera.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 years of CDL Driving experience with consistent job history.
  • End dump experience required.
  • Must pass a medical DOT physical and drug test.
  • Must pass a background check, clean MVR with no recent violations, and consent to Clearing House.
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively.
  • Ability to understand direction (written or oral).
  • Ability to use basic math skills as the job demands.
  • Must be 21 to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
  • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal. End Dump required.
  • Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
  • Perform DOT daily operation and safety inspection.
  • Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
  • Work independently when driving scrap metal.
  • Work with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
  • Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform normal daily operation maintenance: refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping.
  • Clean up work area at the end of shift.
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are essential job functions.
  • Organize materials for more effective use of space.
  • Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
  • Perform inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
  • Maintain effective housekeeping in the workplace area as an ongoing operation for safety and better hygienic conditions for all team members.
