About The Position

SA Recycling is seeking a CDL Class A Heavy Driver for their Macon location. This role prioritizes safety and involves transporting scrap metal. The driver will collect fully loaded containers from customers and return empty ones, requiring professional conduct with customers and adherence to all DOT regulations, in-yard rules, and traffic controller instructions. Drivers must wear seat belts at all times and be visible on camera. Roll-off experience is mandatory.

Requirements

Must wear seat belts at all times and be visible on camera at all times.
Must pass a medical DOT physical and DOT drug test.
Must pass a background check.
3 Years as a Valid CDL Class A driver required and registered with the Clearing House.
No Restrictions.
10 speed manual required.
Ability to communicate with others effectively.
Ability to understand direction (written or oral).
Ability to use basic math skills as the job demands.
Roll Off experience required.
Open top trailer experience required.
Must be 21 to apply.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.

Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal.
Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
Perform DOT daily operation and safety inspection.
Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
Work independently when driving scrap metal.
Work with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
Perform normal daily operation maintenance: refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping.
Clean up work area at the end of shift.
Keep work areas neat and orderly.
Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
Inspection to ensure cleanup is completed.
Maintain effective housekeeping in the workplace area for safety and hygienic conditions.
