About The Position

SA Recycling is a growing scrap metal recycler looking for a CDL Class A Heavy Driver. The primary responsibility of this role is to transport materials, drive a semi-truck to customer locations, collect loaded containers, and return empty ones. The driver will interact professionally with customers and follow all DOT regulations and in-yard safety rules. Safety is the top priority, requiring drivers to wear seatbelts and be visible on camera.

Requirements

  • Must have 3 years of CDL Driving experience with consistent job history.
  • Must pass a medical DOT physical and drug test.
  • Must pass a background check, clean MVR with no recent violations, and consent to Clearinghouse.
  • Ability to communicate with others effectively.
  • Ability to understand direction (written or oral).
  • Ability to use basic math skills as the job demands.
  • Must be 21 to apply.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable.
  • Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills.
  • ROLL OFF and END DUMP experience.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks hauling scrap metal.
  • Inspect and determine metal grade for inventory tracking.
  • Perform DOT daily operation and safety inspection.
  • Communicate with office and customers to determine commodities to load.
  • Work independently when driving scrap metal.
  • Work with customers to satisfy their needs and assist them when problems arise.
  • Work with other employees in the scrap metal yard to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Perform normal daily operation maintenance: refueling, lubrication, cooling system cleaning, and housekeeping.
  • Clean up work area at the end of shift.
  • Keep work areas neat and orderly.
  • Organize materials for more effective use of space.
  • Dispose of various waste materials in the appropriate manner.
  • Ensure cleanup is completed.
  • Maintain effective housekeeping in the workplace for safety and hygiene.
