About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978. Its core business is standard, next-day, ground delivery, and it operates throughout the Midwest. The company employs over 1,800 people. The CDL Class A Driver (Transport) drives a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to transport parcels between terminals. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 8:30 PM, with 10–15 hours of overtime expected each week. Overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. Pay is $28.00–$35.50 per hour, based on experience; starting pay is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity. The position requires a valid CDL Class A license and a driving record that meets company standards. Drivers must be able to operate a manual transmission, maintain required DOT and company certifications, and pass a DOT physical. The role involves inspecting and maintaining equipment, transporting parcels, and assisting other drivers with loading, deliveries, or pickups as needed. Drivers may handle various types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals. Requirements

Be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission.
Possess or be able to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
Have good customer service and organizational skills.
Be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
Be able to pass a DOT physical.
Be able to lift up to 75 pounds and have full range of motion for grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, and walking.
Be able to work with freight including hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct a pre-trip inspection to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
Submit the pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms.
Drive between terminals to transport parcels.
Maintain all certifications required by DOT and company safety policies.
Wash the exterior of the tractor and equipment daily.
Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pickup as needed.
