About The Position

The CDL Class A Driver (LTL) operates a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments. The role includes conducting vehicle inspections, completing driving and maintenance paperwork, handling shipment documentation and payments, maintaining required certifications, cleaning equipment, and assisting other drivers as needed. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 7:30 AM and continuing until the route is completed. The position is expected to involve 10–15 hours of overtime each week, paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. The hourly wage is $24.00–$30.75, based on experience. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered to CDL Class A drivers. The position is full-time and nonexempt. The driver must be able to work with various types of freight, including hazardous materials, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals. Applicants must pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age.
Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license and have a good driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission.
Possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
Have good customer service and organizational skills.
Be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
Be able to pass a DOT physical.
Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Have a full range of motion, including grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, and walking.
Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct a pre-trip inspection to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order.
Submit pre-trip forms and complete mileage and maintenance forms.
Deliver palletized freight to customers in a timely manner and pick up freight from shippers.
Verify that all load-related documentation is complete and accurate.
Collect shipment payments as necessary and return bills of lading to the office for billing.
Maintain all certifications required by DOT and company safety policies.
Wash the exterior of the tractor and equipment daily.
Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pickup as needed.
