About The Position
Spee Dee Delivery is seeking a CDL Class A Driver (LTL) to join their team. This role is responsible for driving a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and/or large shipments. The company was started in 1978 and has expanded throughout the Midwest, employing over 1,800 people. They specialize in standard, next-day, ground delivery.
Requirements
- At least 21 years of age
- Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license with a good driving record that meets company standards
- Ability to operate a manual transmission
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
- Must possess good customer service and organizational skills
- Must be able to work independently and make quick decisions
- Ability to pass a DOT physical
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds
- Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
- Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and a criminal background check

Responsibilities
- Conduct a pre-trip inspection before driving to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order
- Turn in pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms
- Deliver palletized freight in a timely manner to customers and pick up freight from shippers
- Verify all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate
- Collect payment for shipments as necessary and return bill of ladings to the office for billing purposes
- Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and company safety policies
- Wash the exterior of tractor and equipment daily
- Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pick up as needed
