About The Position

Spee Dee Delivery is hiring a full-time CDL Class A Driver (LTL) in Kansas City, Missouri. The driver operates a tractor-trailer combination or straight truck to deliver and pick up palletized freight and large shipments. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a 7:30 a.m. start and work continuing until the route is complete. An estimated 10–15 hours of overtime are expected each week; overtime is paid at time and a half after 40 hours per week. The hourly wage is $24.00–$30.75, based on experience. Starting pay is determined by relevant experience, qualifications, skills, and internal equity, with compensation increases based on company policy, performance, and individual development. The position offers a $10,000 sign-on bonus for CDL Class A drivers. Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned and operated company founded in 1978. Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license and have a driving record that meets company standards.
Be able to operate a manual transmission.
Possess or be able to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement.
Have good customer service and organizational skills.
Be able to work independently and make quick decisions.
Be able to pass a DOT physical.
Be able to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
Have full range of motion for grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, and related activities.
Be able to work with freight that may include hazardous materials, perishable food, alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals.
Pass a pre-employment drug screening and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Conduct a pre-trip inspection to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
Submit the pre-trip form and complete mileage and maintenance forms.
Deliver palletized freight to customers in a timely manner and pick up freight from shippers.
Verify that all load-related documentation is complete and accurate.
Collect payment for shipments when necessary and return bills of lading to the office for billing.
Maintain certifications required by the DOT and company safety policies.
Wash the exterior of the tractor and equipment daily.
Assist other drivers with loading, delivery, or pickup as needed.
