CDL Bus Driver
About The Position
As a LifeWise CDL bus driver, you will provide safe and reliable transportation for public school students and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site. The role requires a responsible, punctual driver with a clean driving record who maintains the bus and helps create a safe, calm, and caring environment for children. Drivers must complete training required by LifeWise Academy. Volunteering in the LifeWise classroom is optional and must be agreed upon with the director. Candidates must have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith and actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with it. The position requires a CDL with a passenger (P) endorsement and continuous licensure for the past three years; a school bus (S) endorsement is preferred. Applicants must be 21–80 years old and meet driving-record, background-check, motor-vehicle-report, FMCSA Clearinghouse, and drug/alcohol testing requirements. Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement. This is a part-time, hourly, non-exempt position. LifeWise Academy states that its hiring practices and EEO policy comply with federal and state law and notes the religious-organization exception that permits employment preference for members of its religion.
Requirements
- Have a mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Actively participate in and be committed to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the “What We Believe” section of the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith.
- Hold a CDL with a passenger vehicle (P) endorsement.
- Have been continuously licensed for the past three years.
- Be 21–80 years of age.
- Have a clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations within the last five years.
- Undergo and pass a background check through LifeWise Academy.
- Undergo and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and clear the FMCSA Clearinghouse check.
- Complete drug and/or alcohol testing as required, including pre-employment testing, annual random tests, and testing following traffic accidents.
- Drivers with known medical conditions must obtain a yearly underwriter-approved Physician’s Statement.

Responsibilities
- Transport children and LifeWise volunteers to and from the LifeWise site.
- Obey traffic laws.
- Maintain the cleanliness and mechanical safety of the bus.
- Perform regular inspections of the bus.
- Refuel the vehicle as needed.
- Create and maintain a safe environment for children.
- Enforce safety rules for students.
- Assist students with entering or exiting the vehicle as needed.
- Demonstrate a calm and caring demeanor.
- Be aware of which students need help or are misbehaving.
- Complete training required by LifeWise Academy.
- Volunteer in the LifeWise classroom if agreed upon with the director.
