About The Position

Richards Building Supply Co. is hiring a CDL Class B Driver for its Merrillville, Indiana location. Applicants may have a CDL Class A or CDL Class B license with an Air Brake Endorsement. The driver safely delivers products to job sites, physically unloads materials as requested by customers, and supports warehouse operations by receiving materials, loading trucks, processing inventory, and moving merchandise to designated areas. Deliveries may include unloading shingles on one- and two-story homes using a knuckleboom. Moffett and/or knuckleboom operating training will be provided.

The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with the driver home every night. Overtime on Saturdays may be available as needed, and peak-season hours may offer additional overtime. The position requires continual lifting of 50–100 pounds, with some lifting over 100 pounds.

Requirements

• Hold a CDL Class B license with an Air Brake Endorsement or a CDL Class A license.
• Have at least 1 year of CDL Class B delivery-driving experience or 2 years of CDL Class A driving experience.
• Be able to drive a manual transmission.
• Have a current DOT medical card.
• Have a clean driving record.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Have heavy-lifting experience.
• Be able to continually lift 50–100 pounds throughout the day; some lifting over 100 pounds is required.
• Pass a background check and pre-employment DOT drug screen.

Nice To Haves

• Box truck and/or flatbed experience is desired.

Responsibilities

• Safely deliver products to job sites.
• Physically unload materials at customer locations according to the customer's request.
• Unload shingles on one- and two-story homes using a knuckleboom.
• Load trucks with materials scheduled for the day's deliveries while complying with DOT regulations for securing loads and distributing weight.
• Receive merchandise and unload trucks at the warehouse.
• Process inventory and move received materials and items to their designated areas.
