The CDL B Local Delivery Truck Driver runs daily local routes with frequent stops, loading packages onto hand trucks and unloading products at each stop in the order designated by the Transportation Department Manager. The driver operates in a cross-dock model, picking up a loaded truck from a nightly delivery at the assigned loading dock and returning the empty truck to the assigned lot at the end of the route. The driver may occasionally assist with loading trucks, palletizing products, and other duties assigned by a supervisor or manager. The role requires efficient route execution, customer service, safe operation and handling of company equipment, and compliance with Department of Transportation regulations and company procedures. Drivers unload and place products in customer storage areas, verify deliveries and obtain signatures, report shortages and errors, and handle customer complaints professionally. The work involves frequent lifting and handling of products, as well as bending, twisting, reaching, and working in varied weather and traffic conditions.
