About The Position

The CDL B Driver Apprentice builds practical experience in commercial driving through paid, hands-on route delivery training. The apprentice safely operates a 26-foot straight truck to deliver and unload dairy products for customers throughout New York City, New Jersey, and Connecticut on assigned routes. Training is conducted under the supervision of an experienced company driver, and the program requires completion of 600 hours of paid straight-truck training. The apprentice must commute to the Newark, New Jersey location for training and be flexible to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying morning start times to meet customer delivery needs.

Requirements

• Valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
• Valid, unexpired interstate DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
• At least 21 years old.
• Ability to complete the company’s pre-employment process, which may include an in-person interview, skills assessments, drug testing, employment verification, and a background check.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push or pull up to 150 pounds.
• Ability to work safely in all weather conditions.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying morning start times.
• Willingness to commute to the Newark, New Jersey location for training.
• No commercial driving experience is required; training is provided through the apprentice program.

Responsibilities

• Deliver products according to assigned route schedules and delivery time windows.
• Safely operate a 26-foot straight truck under the supervision of an experienced company trainer.
• Unload merchandise using hand trucks and other approved equipment.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company policies and procedures.
• Follow all DOT regulations, traffic laws, and company safety procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond professionally to customer needs during deliveries.
• Safely handle products throughout the loading, delivery, and unloading process.
