Requirements

  • Must possess a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with a Tanker Endorsement and a valid DOT physical.
  • Must maintain an excellent driving record.
  • Familiarity with DOT rules for transporting heavy equipment and the ability to understand technical instructions relating to products and vehicles.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.
  • Willingness to work overtime and extended hours in various weather conditions and loud environments.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of experience driving Class A commercially licensed vehicles or 3 years of experience driving a cement tanker is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating dump trucks or heavy construction equipment is also a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Champion Safety: Take an active role in prioritizing safety for yourself and others in accordance with OSHA/MSHA and Vulcan standards.
  • Operate & Position Vehicles: Position trucks under plants for loading by operators and haul loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, cement, or fly ash.
  • Deliver Materials: Safely drive loaded trucks to destinations listed on delivery tickets and follow all verbal or printed instructions.
  • Perform Inspections: Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections. You will monitor air pressure and hose connections during loading to ensure silos are not overfilled.
  • Maintain Equipment: Check vehicle fluid levels daily, clean the exterior to prevent build-up, and assist with minor maintenance or tire changes as necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate daily reports and mobile equipment documentation as required by DOT and Company regulations.
  • Communication: Coordinate with Dispatchers and Plant Managers using company-provided electronic devices to receive instructions and relay site information.
  • Other duties as assigned.
