About The Position

Qualdoc is hiring a CDL-A Heavy Equipment Operator to support emergency transportation, equipment handling, and industrial field operations throughout the region. This hands-on role combines commercial driving, heavy equipment operation, mechanical work, and physical labor. The position is not a traditional over-the-road driving job; most work involves equipment operation, field support, and hands-on labor. When not responding to emergency calls, employees also assist with safety training and equipment maintenance. The role guarantees 40 hours per week, with an average of 60 or more hours and some weeks reaching 70 hours. Employees must be available on call 24/7, including weekends and holidays. Overtime is paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for hours worked outside Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Per diem and hotel and layover pay are available for qualifying assignments. The position is full-time and direct hire, based in Kansas City, Missouri, with starting pay of $26.00 per hour; higher pay may be available depending on experience. Employees transport machinery, materials, and equipment to job sites; load, secure, and handle equipment; operate heavy equipment when qualified; and assist with specialized lifting and field operations. They also perform basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs, keep vehicles and equipment clean and stocked, and follow company, DOT, and safety requirements. Field assignments may involve emergency response, equipment recovery, railroad maintenance, construction-related activities, and travel. When fieldwork is limited, team members assist with inspections, preventive maintenance, safety training, and shop activities. Candidates must bring steel-toed boots to the interview. Pre-employment drug screening and a background check are required. The company may use AI tools to support parts of the hiring process, but final hiring decisions are made by humans.
