About The Position

Operate and maintain Lurvey fleet vehicles to deliver customer purchases to various jobsites and transfer material between Lurvey locations. This includes delivering items such as plant material, bulk mulch or stone, and statuary. The driver will also load and expedite material from the delivery truck to the specified location as directed by the Lurvey dispatcher, ensuring all operations are conducted in a safe and logical manner. The position emphasizes being home every night.

Requirements

Valid Commercial Driver’s License A (CDL A)
Clean driving record
3 Years of Commercial Driving experience
Ability to operate a forklift
Must meet all DOT/FMCSA requirements
Valid air brake endorsement
Comfortable with getting into and off of delivery truck bed frequently (i.e. lifting, bending etc...)
Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance (i.e. checking oil and other fluids, battery connections etc)
Acceptance of training for load covering, material securing and various load requirements
Superb customer service skills
Strong common sense and problem solving skills
Physical requirements include heavy-duty work (exerting 100+ lbs. occasionally, 50 lbs. constantly)
Other physical activities include climbing, stooping and/or crouching, reaching, standing for sustained periods of time, walking for long distances, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping objects, talking and hearing
Visual acuity required to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment
Ability to handle hazards such as moving vehicles, moving mechanical parts and working in high places
Ability to handle fumes, odors, dust, gases or poor ventilation
Ability to work indoors and outdoors with no effective protection from the weather. Employee may be subject to any combination of: extreme cold, extreme heat, high humidity or other adverse conditions.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of diesel equipment is a plus
Training from seasoned Lurvey delivery driver required
Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus

Responsibilities

Ensuring load is safe and secure before leaving Lurvey Supply
Perform pre and post trip inspections on the tractor and trailer
Obeying all state and local traffic laws
Maintaining delivery truck cleanliness and performing morning vehicle maintenance checklist
Actively serving customer needs with respect
Utilizing GPS to expedite deliveries
Greeting and thanking customers for their business
Loading delivery vehicle with designated material
Communicating with Lurvey dispatcher to facilitate customer needs
Unloading material at customer jobsites via truck mounted forklift (Moffett/Princeton)
