About The Position

Under the supervision of the CD Program Manager, the CD Prevention Youth and Young Adult Support Worker delivers support services to youth, young adults and their families in compliance with the SAMHSA Programs Prevention support and activities. Build understanding of the program by communicating its mission and services to youth, young adults, families and the community. This position focuses on how to empower and engage youth and young adults with prevention tools to prevent and or reduce drug and alcohol abuse and to promote health and wellness.

Requirements

Must pass alcohol/drug test at time of hire and throughout employment.
Must pass criminal background check at time of hire and periodically thereafter.
Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Washington State Driver’s License and meet the insurability requirements of the Tribe. (Must Provide Driving Abstract at time of hire).
Must be CPR/First Aid Certified or obtain within the first 6 months of employment
Obtain HIPPA training
Ability to get along with people of all ages especially youth and young adults and gain their trust.

Well organized but able to flex and manage competing priorities and deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills

A combination of relevant education, experience and qualifications which include 3 of the following: Advice and guidance, Childcare, Community work, Education, Counseling, Health, Social care, Youth work

Responsibilities

Outreach to community youth and young adult through referral and in homes, schools, youth programs
Complete an initial intake of youth and young adult to enroll in the NWOL Programs.
Schedule and support the caseload meeting with clients to ensure they are fully supported to progress and achieve desired outcomes.
Maintain ongoing documentation on each client files.
Regularly monitor, review, and document the youth and young adults participation in prevention activities
Establish trusting relationships with youth and young adults
Build partnerships with professionals from other departments/organizations that support youth and young adults, such as social and health care, behavioral health, chemical dependency, education, youth offending teams, local authorities and police department.
Respond to crises and access support services
Attend regular training and development opportunities
Undertake administrative tasks as needed
Contribute to a safe friendly innovative environment and work respectfully with youth and young adults, their families and community.
Collaborate with SAMHSA staff to facilitate and provide culturally rich curricular activities that relate to Healing of the Canoe, Nooksack Way of Life and Positive Indian Parenting.
Provide a broad range of care and support interventions for youth and young adults.
Attend and chaperone overnight conferences, canoe races, Canoe Journey and other overnight activities including leaving on short notice.
Adhere to NWOL policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement
