About The Position

The Team Leader performs the duty of administering all non-injectable medications to assigned residents, provides treatments as delegated, supervises assigned staff, and performs other duties as assigned. This role requires demonstrating a good faith effort to support, maintain, and improve the health and quality of life for residents, with a particular focus on those with Alzheimer's and other dementias. The Team Leader is responsible for supervising and assigning staff, arranging for staff replacement due to call-ins, and assisting caregivers with resident care such as dressing, grooming, bathing, nutritional intake, and toileting. The position involves facilitating resident involvement in self-care, ensuring the appropriate administration of oral medications, and maintaining current knowledge of all administered medications. The Team Leader must be informed of each resident's health history, current condition(s), and service plan, and participate in service planning as requested. Reporting changes in resident condition, communicating transportation needs for medical purposes, practicing basic infection control, and ensuring medical and medicine supplies are maintained are key responsibilities. The role also includes ensuring the appropriate use and destruction of classified drugs, participating in the development and support of resident service plan goals, and maintaining confidentiality. Specific tasks include practicing medical transcription as delegated, documenting vitals and performing alert charting, keeping medication supply areas organized, ordering medications, assigning or attaining resident vitals, scheduling resident lab draws and appointments, completing and assisting with investigations of resident incidents, providing wound care and treatments, performing delegated nursing tasks per Oregon Administrative Rules, and documenting nursing interventions and responses to care. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to administer oral medications and perform treatments accurately in accordance with requirements and as delegated.
  • Reads, speaks and writes the English language.
  • Performs detailed assignments, works under pressure.
  • Relates positively to residents, staff and visitors.
  • Has the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently.
  • Has strong supervisory and team leading skills with the ability to motivate staff to achieve defined and optimal goals.
  • Written evidence of current CPR training is on file.

Nice To Haves

  • Successfully completed an Oregon State Board of Nursing approved training program for the administration of non-injectable medication.

Responsibilities

  • Administering all non-injectable medications to assigned residents.
  • Providing treatments as delegated.

  • Reporting resident change of condition in accordance with established policy and procedure.
  • Communicating resident need for transportation for medical purpose to Team Leader Captain.
  • Practicing basic infection control techniques.
  • Assuring house medical and medicine supplies are maintained and readily available.
  • Ensuring appropriate use and destruction of classified drugs with the Health Services RN.
  • Participating in development, knowledgeable and supportive of resident service plan goals.
  • Maintaining confidential nature of work.
  • Practicing medical transcription as delegated.
  • Documenting vitals and performing alert charting as required.
  • Keeping medication supply areas organized and tidy.
  • Ordering medications from resident’s pharmacy of choice.
  • Assigning or attaining resident vitals per physician orders and service plans.
  • Scheduling resident lab draws.
  • Scheduling resident physician and other appointments as requested.
  • Completing and assisting to conduct investigations in resident incidents and communicates incidents to Physician and interested parties.
  • Providing wound care and treatments as delegated and with return demonstration of ability.
  • Performing delegated and/or assigned nursing tasks per Oregon Administrative Rules.
  • Documenting nursing interventions and responses to care.
  • Other duties as assigned.
