Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required for all positions (may be allowed to sign a GED agreement to obtain within 6 months).
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) certification through a recognized organization (e.g., NHA)
  • BLS provider status at hire or obtained within 6 months of hire
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, patients and the public
  • Basic keyboarding and computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year’s working experience in a clinical or healthcare setting
  • Experience navigating electronic medical records (EMR) strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations by taking vital signs, recording medical histories, and documenting chief complaints
  • Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
  • Perform basic laboratory tests, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider and within scope of practice
  • Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests as required
  • Clean and sterilize medical instruments and maintain exam rooms
  • Schedule patient appointments and manage calendars
  • Verify patient information, insurance, and obtain necessary authorizations
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the EHR system
  • Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and follow-up communication
  • Assist with billing and coding processes as needed
  • Provide compassionate, patient-centered care and education
  • Crosstrain and provide coverage in staffing, in the absence of regularly scheduled staff, and when additional assistance is needed and/or determined necessary, by provider practice leadership.
  • Ensure proper labeling, handling, and transport of lab specimens and perform basic waived testing as permitted.
  • Maintains required certifications and pursues continuing education relevant to the role.
