About The Position

As a CBT Therapist with the Ontario Structured Psychotherapy (OSP) Program, you will help make a difference by increasing access to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for those experiencing mild to moderate depression, anxiety, and anxiety-related conditions within the community and the Ontario West region. In this role, you will deliver individual and group, protocol-based, structured psychotherapy both in person and online out of a variety of community sites. You will have the opportunity to attend intensive training in CBT skills and the program model and will also participate in regular external consultation to establish high quality service delivery and cohesion with the OSP Model. Successful candidates are asked for a 2-year commitment.

Requirements

  • Master’s, bachelor’s or equivalent graduate diploma that requires completion of a bachelor’s level program and has the practice of psychotherapy central to its program.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties.
  • Registered member in good standing with one of the Colleges regulated to practice the controlled act of psychotherapy: OCSWSSW as an RSW, CNO as an RN or RN Extended Class, COTO, CRPO, or CPO.
  • Current, clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing mental health/addictions treatment (2-3 years preferred), including: Utilizing evidence-based CBT treatment models with clients experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and anxiety related conditions.
  • Formal CBT and CPT training with appropriate supervision/clinical consultation preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience providing culturally safe mental health services to clients of diverse ethno-racial and cultural backgrounds.
  • Working in a community-based/outpatient setting.
  • Experience with online learning systems and providing care virtually/by telephone.
  • Ability to attend work regularly.
  • Knowledge of: Motivational interviewing techniques to assess treatment readiness.
  • Intersectionality and social determinants of health.
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques to support adult learning.
  • Computer software, e.g. Microsoft Office, electronic health records.
  • Strengths-based, trauma-informed, client-centered framework for mental health / addictions treatment.
  • Distinguishing features and etiology of depression, anxiety, and related conditions.
  • The science and practice of individual and group-based psychotherapy, CBT, CPT, and/or other evidence-based psychotherapies for treating clients with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group protocol-based structured psychotherapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and cognitive processing therapy (CPT), in alignment with OSP provincial model to individuals experiencing depression, anxiety and anxiety-related conditions.
  • Actively incorporate anti-racist, anti-oppressive practices and principles in the delivery of client-centered, trauma-informed care at all levels of service.
  • Work collaboratively with clients, family members, referral sources, community partners, and the OSP program's network in the provision of accessible, equitable and inclusive care (e.g. interpretation services, culturally appropriate and relevant care, incorporating anti-racism and decolonizing approaches to care, considering social determinants of health and trauma-informed approaches).
  • Contribute to ongoing program development and program evaluation and implement new practices as required.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, as per program and organizational guidelines.
  • Complete required individual documentation as per organization standards.
  • Complete other required documentation (e.g. monthly time sheets, vacation requests, travel claims, expense claims) within the required time frames.
  • Provide input into decisions with the Manager concerning operations of the program.
  • Ensure effective communication with Director, Manager, and Coordinator.
  • Identify, promote resolution, and management of all emergency situation concerning individuals, staff and property.
  • Knowledge of issues pertaining to individual confidentiality, such as the shared Common Individual Record (CCR) and consent to release personal information process to ensure individual's confidentiality is maintained at all times.
