About The Position

Western Specialty Contractors is seeking self-motivated individuals to serve as Skilled Caulkers at our Des Moines, IA branch. As a member of the branch production team, you will be responsible for performing work within a particular work area in accordance with generally accepted standards of the crafts. Experienced skilled laborers are encouraged to apply. This role involves cutting out sealant, packing, and shooting new sealant with high quality, performing masonry caulking, doubt tee parking garage caulking, window perimeter caulking, control joint caulking, window wet sealing, and all window perimeter sealant replacement. You will also be responsible for rigging and working on scaffolding.

Requirements

• Experience in a trade or craft is preferred.
• Must be able to demonstrate sufficient reading, writing and math skills to comprehend and explain company safety policies and material instruction.
• Must be lift certified.
• Must be comfortable working at heights.
• Must be comfortable working outdoors in high temperatures.
• Must be able to use logical step-by-step procedures in working with different materials using a variety of skills.
• Must be able to work within precise limits or standards of accuracy and be able to judge straight lines, spaces and proportions.
• Must have the ability to read drawings.
• Identify existing and predictable hazards in work surroundings, including working conditions that are unsanitary, hazardous or dangerous to employees.
• Must be able to: Stand or walk for long periods; lift and carry materials weighing 50 pounds or more; climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment; and see well (either naturally or with correction).
• Must be able to work at heights and at extreme temperatures, and wear company’s safety equipment.
• Must have own “hand tools of the trade.”
• Must have reliable transportation.

• Practical caulking experience preferred.
