Cattle scale operators are responsible for handling all animals humanely, proper and accurate documentation of cattle received and on site, as well as cleanliness of the barn area. This role involves working with live cattle, accurately filling out weight tickets, weighing cattle, and moving cattle to their proper locations within the barn. The operator will ensure all gates are secure to prevent mixing of producer's cattle, verify cattle counts and pen locations, and properly fill out Ante-mortem inspection sheets. Additionally, they will ensure all cattle have access to a clean water source, separate slow/challenged cattle, and knock non-ambulatory or challenged animals. Good communication with Harvest Management, USDA, and the Finance team is essential. This description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and employees may perform other related duties as needed.
