About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher for its Center in Brookfield, Connecticut. The substitute teaches in a classical, Catholic classroom for up to 13 hours per week and is called in as needed when staff are sick. Substitutes may decline assignments when unavailable. The role is hourly, with childcare/nursery provided. On-call hours are Mondays and Thursdays from 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. The academy is a national classical homeschool organization in the Catholic tradition, offering instruction in a formal Socratic classroom setting on Mondays and Thursdays. Curriculum and grading guidelines are provided, and tutors are trained in instruction and classroom management according to RCA standards. Teaching certification and formal teaching experience are not required. Employees complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching. No additional vacation days are provided; accommodations are made as needed for sick days.

Requirements

Be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church and have a deep love for the Catholic faith.
Live the Catholic faith day-to-day, including having received all sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
Have strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
Have a traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
Complete a clear background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching.

Nice To Haves

Experience homeschooling or working with homeschool children, ministry in a Catholic parish, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching one's own children, or teaching in a classical or private school.

Responsibilities

Teach in a classical and Catholic classroom when regular staff are out sick.
Provide instruction and classroom management according to Regina Caeli Academy standards after receiving training.
Follow provided curriculum and grading guidelines.
