The Cath Lab Tech II operates monitoring, recording, and related equipment during procedures, collects and prepares data for physicians, and supports staff. They monitor patient electrocardiograms for cardiac dysrhythmias, operate defibrillators, and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation when required. The role involves assisting in emergency situations, pre and post-procedure activities related to equipment and patient care, and positioning patients for radiographic procedures. The technician identifies cardiovascular and peripheral vascular anatomy, performs initial troubleshooting on equipment, and arranges maintenance. They also conduct calibration, cleaning, and quality assurance measures on equipment, and prepare, deliver, and pick up reusable items for re-sterilization. Additionally, the role involves preparing and operating imaging, angiographic, interventional, and storage systems, and scrubbing to assist physicians with diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures. The technician will serve as a technical resource, role model, and/or preceptor for students and staff, develop and train staff, and facilitate clinical problem-solving and interdepartmental collaboration for patient care education. The position requires demonstrating knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
