About The Position
Knapp Medical Center is seeking a Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory RN (Cath Lab RN) to support cardiac catheterization procedures and contribute to the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. The RN helps ensure procedures are safe, efficient, and effective while providing direct care to adult and geriatric patients. The position is full-time, day shift, at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco, Texas. Knapp Medical Center is a not-for-profit hospital and member of the Prime Healthcare Foundation. It has 227 beds and serves the Mid-Valley area, including as its only acute care hospital and Weslaco’s only Level III Trauma Center. The hospital employs more than 450 people and has more than 300 physicians on its medical staff. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details provided during the interview process.
Requirements
- Active state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Current BCLS (AHA) certification.
- ACLS certification upon hire and maintained as current.
- At least one year of clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Laboratory doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Address psychosocial, physical, and general aspects of care related to the surgical environment.
- Communicate continuously and as needed with physicians about patient condition.
- Assist with equipment maintenance and inventory.
- Assess procedure room and equipment functioning and readiness.
- Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure the Cardiovascular Laboratory team’s needs are met.
- Monitor physiologic and hemodynamic data during diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular laboratory procedures.
- Continuously monitor and record patients’ conditions while they are in the Cardiovascular Laboratory.
- Participate in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
