About The Position
Peterson Health is hiring a full-time Cath Lab Registered Nurse in its CCIR department. Working under the supervision of physicians and the management team, the RN provides patient care and assists with procedures in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology Department, with patient safety as the focus. The role serves adult through geriatric patients and involves communicating with physicians about patient conditions, needs, and care plans. The RN prepares patients before procedures, monitors, positions, and assists them during procedures, and supports post-procedure recovery. The role also includes assessing procedure-room readiness and equipment function, obtaining case supplies, confirming pre-procedure documentation, assisting physicians and technologists, maintaining equipment and inventory, and participating in performance- and quality-improvement activities. The position works four 10-hour shifts and requires call. Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Texas Registered Nurse license.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- At least one year of experience as a registered nurse in a hospital Critical Care unit.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, decision-making, and patient-care skills.
- Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy, positioning, techniques, and radiation-protection and safety standards.
- Excellent venipuncture skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to prepare and recover patients before, during, and after procedures in Radiology and CCIR departments.
- Ability to adapt or develop techniques when necessary to keep the department up to date.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
- Certified Critical Care Nurse (CCRN).
- Cardio-Vascular Certified RN (CVRN).
- More than two years of experience as a critical care nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct care to adult through geriatric patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Interventional Radiology Department.
- Prepare and recover patients before, during, and after procedures in Radiology and CCIR departments.
- Communicate with physicians about patient conditions, needs, and care plans, including when physician intervention may be necessary.
- Monitor, position, and assist patients during procedures.
- Assess procedure-room equipment functioning and readiness.
- Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure pre-procedure documentation is accurate and reflects the planned procedure.
- Assist physicians and technologists as requested.
- Assist with equipment and inventory maintenance.
- Participate in performance-improvement and continuous-quality-improvement activities.
