Catering Worker (Part-Time)

About The Position
The Catering Worker provides excellent customer service while supporting catering and food service operations across Stony Brook University Hospital and other Stony Brook locations. Responsibilities include setting up, delivering, serving, and cleaning up catered events, assisting with food preparation, maintaining sanitation standards, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This position is considered "Essential". The incumbent must report to work regardless of extreme weather or other conditions.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Food Handler Certificate (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
- At least 1 year of food service experience
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to travel between campus locations as needed
- Flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
Nice To Haves
- 3+ years of food service or catering experience
- Knowledge of food service regulations and sanitation standards
Responsibilities
- Set up, deliver, and break down catering events
- Ensure food, beverages, supplies, and equipment are organized and presented professionally
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment
- Assist with food preparation and service for catered events and patient meal operations
- Transport food, supplies, and equipment safely throughout campus and hospital locations
- Follow food safety, infection control, and departmental procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned
