About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for selling, planning, and overseeing all events booked at the hotel. This role involves selling social catering events, servicing accounts, and developing leads for assigned markets. The manager will negotiate and finalize contracts and banquet event orders (BEOs) by meeting with or telephoning clients, and is responsible for achieving sales goals. The position also includes planning and detailing each event, overseeing the entire function, anticipating and resolving group problems, and preparing specialized reports. The Catering Sales Manager must stay informed of budgeted revenue goals, assist in developing plans to achieve them, and originate/generate business. They are responsible for ensuring all guest checks, payments, master folios, and advanced deposits are submitted to accounting, and that necessary information is provided to appropriate departments for successful catering business. Additionally, the role requires representing the company at trade association meetings to promote the property and communicating directly with the Executive Chef, Banquets, and Conference Services regarding event changes and final counts. Membership in associations that influence continuing education and secure future business is also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Two (2) to five (5) years of experience in hotel and/or conference center sales
  • Extensive knowledge and able to coordinate wedding ceremonies and receptions
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently utilize a variety of computer programs, i.e., Word, Excel, MICROS, property management system, etc.
