About The Position

The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for targeting, soliciting, and securing group, banquet, and catering business for the hotel. This role focuses on building strong client relationships, generating new leads, and maximizing revenue through proactive sales initiatives. The Catering Sales Manager drives growth in all catering and banquet revenue segments by cultivating existing accounts, sourcing new business opportunities, and executing effective sales and marketing strategies. This position reports directly to the Director of Sales. Flexible schedule may be required, including occasional evenings, weekends, or on-site event support. Travel required within the local market for client visits, networking events, off-site meetings, and community engagement. Some off-property event attendance and participation in industry/trade events may be expected.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of catering, banquet, or hotel sales experience preferred.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, and closing skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems (Delphi preferred), MS Office, and event management tools.
  • Ability to handle multiple events, deadlines, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, professionalism, and customer-service orientation.

Responsibilities

  • Proactively solicit new group, banquet, social, and corporate catering business through prospecting, outbound calls, networking, site tours, and community engagement.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key accounts, event planners, community organizations, businesses, and social groups to generate repeat and referral business.
  • Initiate and follow through on hyper-proactive lead generation efforts to identify new opportunities and maximize conversion.
  • Respond to incoming catering inquiries, prepare proposals, negotiate rates/contracts, and convert leads into definite bookings.
  • Conduct site inspections that effectively sell the hotel’s features, services, menus, meeting space, and event capabilities.
  • Work closely with clients to understand event objectives, guest counts, menu selections, setup requirements, and special requests.
  • Communicate event details accurately and timely to internal teams, ensuring successful execution of all contracted functions.
  • Partner with the Banquets, F&B, and Operations teams to ensure service excellence and seamless delivery of group and catering events.
  • Participate in pre- and post-event meetings to drive continuous improvement and client satisfaction.
  • Maximize revenue by upselling menu enhancements, AV, rental items, and additional services.
  • Ensure all negotiated business aligns with hotel guidelines, revenue strategies, and profitability targets.
  • Maintain accurate catering forecasts, pace reports, and revenue projections.
  • Track performance metrics, conversion rates, and productivity goals to meet or exceed established targets.
  • Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing team to create promotional strategies that drive banquet and catering awareness.
  • Represent the hotel at community events, bridal shows, networking functions, and trade shows to expand market reach.
  • Keep catering collateral, digital platforms, and menus updated and aligned with brand standards.
