About The Position

The Buehler’s Catering Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the catering department, ensuring loyal customers have an exceptional experience. This role works closely with the food service team, Store Leadership team, and Director of Catering, contributing to the company strategy of becoming the Best in Food Service. The position focuses on driving catering sales and profitability, leading the catering team, and fostering exceptional customer service through training and development.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Able to occasionally stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 40-60 lbs.
  • Requires manual dexterity, auditory and visual skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to work within a kitchen environment with exposure to heat, steam, fire, and noise.
  • Experience with kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, dishwashers, slicers, coffee machines, steamers, mixers, and chef’s knives.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve top-line catering sales and bottom-line profitability for the catering department.
  • Provide leadership to the catering team, championing employee relations and "Putting People First."
  • Establish, develop, train, and maintain exceptional customer service standards for all catering employees.
  • Collaborate with the Catering Director, Food Service Manager, and Food Service Team to develop and deliver customer-pleasing offerings.
  • Align staffing with recruitment and retention efforts to meet operational needs and manage labor costs effectively.
  • Promote catering offerings to potential customers through various marketing and sales techniques.
  • Act as the customer's advocate, ensuring events are special and exceeding expectations.
  • Conduct face-to-face sales calls, client meetings, tastings, and demonstrations, and prepare detailed quotations.
  • Organize custom orders and full-service events through effective communication, record-keeping, and follow-through.
  • Liaise with local rental companies, entertainment services, photographers, and event venues.
  • Assist with food preparation for catered events and during high-volume periods.
  • Upsell products from Buehler’s Floral, Bakery, and Beer and Wine Departments to enhance total store sales.
  • Follow up with customers post-sale via phone, email, and handwritten notes to ensure satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about catering competitors and identify opportunities for competitive advantage.
  • Administer Buehler’s personnel policies, procedures, and labor laws.
  • Plan for seasonal changes, holidays, special events, and promotions, focusing on organization and maximizing opportunities.
  • Proactively identify and resolve employee and customer issues, communicating effectively with all stakeholders.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.
