About The Position

Groovin' Gourmets, the catering division of Trolley Hospitality Companies, is seeking a part-time Catering Event Bartender to join their team in Richmond. This role offers flexible scheduling, making it ideal for individuals seeking supplemental income or a second job. The position involves preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at various events, including corporate functions, weddings, and social gatherings. Responsibilities include reviewing event details, setting up the bar area, serving guests, handling payments for cash bars, and assisting with event breakdown and cleanup. The role requires a strong customer service focus, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a physically demanding environment.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of bartending experience, preferably in a catering/banquet setting
  • Able to follow directions and work independently
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to bend, twist, lift at least 50 pounds, and stand on feet for long periods of time

Responsibilities

  • Review the event worksheet before arriving at the event to be knowledgeable about the event details, timeline, bar type, and food.
  • Check in with the Event Captain or Co-Captain upon arrival and departure from the event.
  • Assist with unloading the vehicle and setting up the bar area and all appropriate glassware.
  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks to guests during the event.
  • Answer guest questions about drink ingredients and make suggestions for beverages and cocktails.
  • Verify that all guests served alcohol are of legal drinking age.
  • Take payments for drinks if the event has a cash bar, using the Square app for cash or credit transactions.
  • Clean up the bar area at the end of the event and pack all beer and wines back into appropriate boxes.
  • Assist with the general breakdown of the event, ensuring no food, plates, beverages, or debris remain, and that rentals are neatly stacked.
