About The Position

For over 40 years, North Hill, a not-for-profit senior living community located in Needham, Massachusetts, has provided vibrant living opportunities to people 65+ by offering a host of hospitality, wellness and health care services. The Catering Coordinator is responsible for performing activities related to the food venues.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and strong customer support skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with Team Members, Residents, family members, visitors, and the general public
  • Work professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
  • When working in Resident areas, must be able to communicate effectively in English
  • Attends and participates in in-service educational classes, Healthcare Academy and staff meetings as directed
  • Complies with protection of health information (HIPAA) safeguards

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of food service experience in a health care setting preferred
  • Serve Safe Certified

Responsibilities

  • Performs set-up and breakdown service for events in a timely manner, ensuring rugs, floors, tables and linens are clean
  • Consults with Restaurant Manager and Catering Manager on staffing needs for functions
  • Assists with customer billing, transactions, and the basic needs of event coordination
  • Transports materials to and from event locations
  • Provides excellent customer service and communication with Residents and guests
  • Addresses customer concerns promptly and courteous
  • Cleans and sanitizes all equipment, utensils, dining ware, linens, serving ware and work areas
  • Restocks and returns all equipment to appropriate storage areas
  • Provides solutions to problems concerning any issues a Resident may have
  • Answers guests’ questions and handles complaints related to catering services expeditiously
  • Works in dining venues when staffing levels are low
  • Provides caring, thoughtful and engaging service at all times
  • Communicates any challenges, complaints or service difficulties to immediate supervisor
  • Meets department uniform, appearance and grooming requirements
  • Complies with all OSHA safety regulations, local applicable laws regarding health, safety or environment
