Requirements

  • Experience with high-volume catering and food service operations, preferably in school environments required

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary Training or a minimum of 4 years of culinary and catering experience preferred
  • Experience with purchasing/ordering preferred
  • High levels of professionalism and strong leadership skills
  • Excellent communication and good organizational skills
  • Flexibility: ability to switch between locations and job duties
  • Growing knowledge of sustainable practices
  • ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and portion large quantities of food for daily operations and catering events.
  • Supervise and coordinate cooks and kitchen staff to ensure efficient food preparation, presentation, and service.
  • Serve as Manager on Duty on a scheduled basis, overseeing daily operations and staff performance.
  • Develop and modify recipes and cooking methods to improve product quality, consistency, and efficiency.
  • Order, receive, and inspect food and kitchen supplies to ensure freshness, quality, and adequate inventory levels.
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen inventory, ensuring proper stock levels and minimizing waste.
  • Create attractive food presentations and decorative displays for special events and catered functions.
  • Ensure the proper use, preventive maintenance, and scheduling of repairs for kitchen equipment.
  • Inspect work areas, equipment, and supplies to ensure compliance with company standards and health regulations.
  • Train and demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment usage to kitchen staff.
  • Monitor the quality of raw and prepared food products to maintain high culinary standards.
  • Maintain accurate production and operational records.
  • Prepare a wide variety of menu items for daily service and special events.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and sanitized food production, storage, and preparation areas in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, providing recommendations for leftover utilization, operational efficiency, and product quality improvements.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance and contribute to the smooth operation of the kitchen.
