Italic Catering is seeking part-time Catering Captains to help lead the successful execution of exceptional catered events. As our catering and events business continues to grow, this role offers the opportunity to evolve into a full-time leadership position for the right candidates. We are looking for leaders who believe that great events are built through preparation, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement. This is more than a banquet captain role. The ideal candidate is an organized, solutions-oriented professional who leads by teaching rather than doing everything themselves, follows established systems while seeking opportunities to improve them, and takes ownership of delivering seamless guest experiences. Requirements
- Previous catering, banquet, restaurant, or hospitality leadership experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams in fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven ability to prioritize, delegate, and execute multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Collaborative leadership style with a passion for developing others.
- Growth mindset with a desire to continuously improve systems, processes, and performance.
- Ability to follow established procedures while exercising sound judgment.
- Comfortable using technology, digital communication tools, and operational checklists.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift or transport catering equipment as needed.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays based on event schedules.
Responsibilities
- Lead the setup, service, and breakdown of catered events.
- Serve as the on-site leader and primary point of contact for clients, venues, vendors, and staff.
- Deliver exceptional hospitality while maintaining a calm, professional, and solutions-oriented approach.
- Conduct assigned venue walkthroughs and review event details, timelines, floor plans, and logistics.
- Anticipate challenges, communicate proactively, and ensure events are thoroughly prepared for successful execution.
- Follow established procedures and utilize required checklists without exception.
- Verify that all food, beverages, equipment, rentals, and supplies are accounted for before departure and upon completion of the event.
- Conduct final inspections to prevent forgotten items and communicate operational concerns promptly.
- Lead, delegate, and support event staff to ensure efficient execution and a positive work environment.
- Conduct pre-event briefings, clearly communicate expectations, and coach team members during events.
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and hospitality.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and guest experience.
- Participate in post-event debriefs and contribute ideas that strengthen systems and processes.
- Demonstrate a growth mindset and willingness to learn and adapt.
- Execute events using staffing plans established by leadership.
- Utilize assigned team members effectively and release staff according to approved schedules.
- Obtain approval before authorizing overtime, extending shifts, or making changes that increase labor costs.
- Balance exceptional service with responsible stewardship of company resources.
