About The Position
The Catering Associate is responsible for patient food service on assigned units, including menu selections, tray assembly, tray delivery and pickup, special requests and needs, and between-meal food delivery. The role works with patients and Nursing to help ensure food preferences and needs are met within dietary restrictions and diet orders, and contributes to patient satisfaction by providing high-quality service. The position follows HACCP guidelines when assembling and distributing food supplies and records information on quality control forms. The listed schedule covers weekday and weekend shifts between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m., including mandatory Saturday and Sunday shifts every other weekend. The position is 24 hours per week.
Requirements
- Ability to meet the stated moderate physical requirements, including frequent standing and walking; moderate lifting up to 50 pounds; and tasks that may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling.
- The schedule includes mandatory Saturday and Sunday shifts every other weekend.
Responsibilities
- Takes patient menu selections before each meal, following special and modified diet restrictions and accommodating food allergies and cultural, ethnic, and religious preferences within diet order limitations.
- Assembles trays according to patient menus and tray tickets in a timely and accurate manner.
- Interacts with Nursing to ensure patient diet prescriptions are accurate and food needs are met.
- Completes catering rounds after tray delivery to ask whether patients need anything else.
- Retrieves trays from patient rooms shortly after completing rounds.
- Assists the Diet Tech with monitoring patients who are NPO, on liquid diets, have a calorie count ordered, or need nutrition handouts.
- Contributes to patient satisfaction goals by providing high-quality service.
- Follows HACCP guidelines when assembling and distributing food supplies and records information on quality control forms.
