This position manages university catering requests from placement to completion within the catering system. This includes inputting orders, processing modifications, issuing confirmations, and ensuring accurate billing compliance. The role involves answering customer questions about contracts and invoicing, demonstrating familiarity with basic cash procedures, and maintaining catering information in a database. The Catering Assistant will also create signs, banners, labels, and menus using various software packages, type correspondences, and conduct quality assurance measurements. Data entry for dining information, assisting with billing and cost tracking, and completing general office duties are also key responsibilities. The role requires greeting customers, answering the telephone, taking messages or standard catering requests, and confirming final guest counts. Interaction with campus personnel and outside entities is expected, as is participation in running events, including preparation, setup, and breakdown. The position demands managing rapid timelines, prioritizing urgent tasks, and working with tight deadlines. Maintaining a neat and clean office area is also part of the duties. The Catering Assistant will support the Taste to Go program and may act as a clearing house for information within their unit and for special events. Communication, both written and verbal, with campus members and facility users regarding services, pricing, and policies is essential. A valid Driver's License is required to operate CAS Vehicles.
