About The Position

The Wisconsin Union, founded in 1907, is the heart and soul of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, enhancing the lives of members and visitors. Since 1928, Memorial Union has served as the living room of the UW-Madison campus, connecting students, faculty, staff, members, and visitors through shared cultural, social, and recreational events and experiences. This role provides overall support for catering and dining areas at the Fluno Center, assisting with preparation, setup, tear down, and service for catering events, dining areas, and break stations.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled as a student at a college or university
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Customer Service Skills
• Positive attitude
• Ability to stand or walk for majority of shift
• Ability to lift 20 pounds and push or pull 100 pound carts
• Must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or high school (at least 16).
• If school is in break period (summer, spring, winter), applicants must intend to enroll in courses the following semester.

Nice To Haves

• Server/bartending experience a plus!
• Previous food service or restaurant experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation of catering events, dining areas and break stations.
• Event set up and tear downs, set up buffet lines and break stations, refresh food and supplies.
• Provide table services as necessary, making menu recommendations, entering orders into POS systems, and collecting payments.
• Maintain proper sanitation at all times.
• Report hazardous situations immediately.
