About The Position

Reporting to the Manager, VFF, Process Equipment & MRO Categories, the Category Specialist Valves, Fittings, Flanges & Process Equipment will support materials and equipment strategy development and execution, supplier performance and relationship management, contract formation and management, as well as issue resolution and category specific standardization efforts across all business units with annual, enterprise-wide spend in the range of approx. $300 Million. This is considered an ideal developmental role for candidates seeking an opportunity to develop greater organizational visibility, business and commercial acumen or exposure to longer-term strategies across Canada, US and Mexico.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Designation or enrollment in a Supply Chain Management program such as ISM, SCMP, CSCMP and/or IACCM and/or Professional Engineer and/or PMP
  • Experience with valves, fittings, flanges and process equipment
  • Experience with relevant systems and tools, such as SAP, Ariba, MS Project, Excel
  • Strong planning, project management and organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task under high pressure situations with competing priorities and a sense of urgency
  • Solid technical skills and aptitude
  • Identifies and articulates value creation opportunities based on spend, market, and business analysis
  • Identifies and facilitates adoption of best practices based on interactions with leading suppliers

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute category strategies for valves, fittings, flanges, and process equipment across the full lifecycle—from development through implementation and sustainment
  • Drive data‑based decisions through market intelligence, spend analysis, supplier capacity assessment, and forecasting
  • Identify and compile internal long-term demand forecasts across Canada, US and Mexico
  • Facilitate and lead materials and equipment standardization initiatives with internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate enterprise‑wide initiatives across multiple business units, regions, and regulatory jurisdictions
  • Enable project execution by contributing to category execution strategies and project‑specific procurement plans
  • Manage supplier performance and relationships, including KPI tracking, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Lead and/or support contract formation, negotiation, management, and improvement, as well as contract interpretation and claims management
  • Support change management and communications, ensuring category strategies and agreements are clearly understood and adopted across the organization
