About The Position

The Category Site Merchant owns the strategy and execution of category‑level site experiences across Advance Auto Parts’ ecommerce platforms, translating category strategy into high‑performing digital storefronts that drive discovery, engagement, and conversion. Partnering closely with Category Management, SEO, Content, Catalog, and cross‑functional ecommerce teams, the Category Site Merchant is responsible for building and maintaining category landing pages, featured modules, guides, and cross‑sell paths that are accurate, optimized, and continuously improved based on customer behavior and performance insights.

Requirements

  • Strong site merchandising or digital category management experience with ownership of large or complex categories
  • Ability to translate category strategy into effective digital execution
  • Data‑driven mindset with experience using insights to improve customer journeys
  • Strong organizational and cross‑functional collaboration skills
  • 7+ years of experience in site merchandising, digital category management, or ecommerce
  • Demonstrated success improving category journeys, CTR, and conversion
  • Working knowledge of taxonomy, attributes, and CMS publishing workflows
  • Bachelor’s degree required; related fields preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing complex or configurable catalogs preferred
  • Proficiency using testing, experimentation, or personalization tools a plus
  • Experience working with third‑party ecommerce CMS or digital experience platforms a plus

Responsibilities

  • Own end‑to‑end site merchandising for assigned categories, shaping how customers browse, discover, and navigate into PDPs
  • Design, build, and maintain category landing pages, featured modules, guides, and cross‑sell paths aligned to category priorities
  • Translate assortment strategy, promotions, and seasonal priorities into compelling, customer‑centric category experiences
  • Set and manage pinning rules, content hierarchy, and seasonal refresh plans across assigned categories
  • Analyze browse‑to‑PDP funnels, click‑through rates, and conversion performance to identify friction and opportunity
  • Execute A/B and multivariate tests across layouts, modules, messaging, and visual hierarchy; apply learnings to future executions
  • Use behavioral insights and analytics to continuously optimize category journeys
  • Publish regular performance readouts with insights, actions, and next steps
  • Coordinate creative and copy inputs, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and brand alignment
  • Partner with Catalog and Category Management teams to ensure item readiness, including attributes, images, pricing, and compliance
  • Ensure category experiences are accurate, timely, and published with high quality and consistency
  • Maintain tight publishing cadences, including weekly refreshes and validation
  • Apply taxonomy, attribute, and navigation best practices to improve category structure and findability
  • Partner with SEO on internal linking, metadata, and category optimization to support organic discovery
  • Ensure category structures align to customer intent and how customers shop the category
  • Partner closely with Category Managers, SEO, Content Strategy, Analytics, and Technology teams
  • Collaborate with Site Merchandising leadership on homepage or cross‑site placement decisions when category priorities warrant elevated visibility
  • Act as the day‑to‑day owner of category site execution, ensuring alignment between strategy and delivery
