About The Position

As a DT Category Merchant at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll develop the assortment, execute the merchandising strategy, and implement merchandising plans for Dollar Tree stores. The role covers category strategy and product management, including assortment definition, product selection, sourcing, vendor relationships, financial and assortment planning, and promotional product selection. It also includes business performance responsibilities such as reviewing results and identifying opportunities to improve merchandising business and systems.

Responsibilities

• Consult on the definition of the category strategy and ensure it aligns with corporate strategy and targeted financial objectives.
• Define assortments and select products for assigned banners, channels, countries, and departments, ensuring alignment with targets.
• Identify, develop, and procure products to support the success and performance of assigned responsibilities.
• Collaborate with Global Sourcing to identify new supply sources, prepare for buying trips, select vendors, and negotiate costs.
• Consult on financial and assortment planning; ensure plans align with category strategy and business objectives and buys align with assortment targets.
• Sign off on plan-o-guides, display guides, flow guides, and planners for assigned responsibilities before they are communicated to stores.
• Collaborate with Global Sourcing to manage and direct relationships with, and performance of, vendors supporting assigned responsibilities.
• Select products from assigned responsibilities for promotional programs and ensure they are appropriately represented in promotions.
• Conduct Weekly Business Reviews and consult on Monthly P&L Performance Reviews for assigned responsibilities.
• Consult on leading, mentoring, and guiding the Category Team, and on training and developing the Merchandising organization.
• Identify potential merchandising business and systems improvement initiatives.
