The Category Manager generates value through negotiating pricing discounts and protecting Mayo Clinic from various types of risk. Work is assigned and monitored by team leaders based on business needs, and the role may serve on multiple teams. The position may lead lower-risk teams or projects and, when mentoring, provides day-to-day oversight for personnel and projects. It builds relationships with operations managers and project leaders to understand sourcing needs, opportunities, and priorities, and works with individuals across Mayo Clinic as well as external contacts. The role provides leadership for day-to-day management of contracting activities and personnel and independently negotiates medium-complexity, medium-risk contracts. It applies contract law and category knowledge, contributes to short- and long-range plans that protect Mayo Clinic’s business and legal interests, and participates in negotiating and consulting on supplies, distribution agreements, agreement awards, and supplier performance. Following contract execution, the Category Manager participates in or leads lifecycle management, including amendments, extensions, compliance, termination, and change control, and oversees related contract administration processes. The role also performs analyses such as total cost of ownership and special-deal evaluations, represents Mayo Clinic in vendor contract dispute resolution, and completes other assigned projects. This is a hybrid position. Eligible candidates must be located within 100 miles of a Mayo Clinic campus for occasional on-site work based on business needs. The vacancy is not eligible for visa sponsorship or transfer, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program. The selection process may include a convenient, pre-recorded OnDemand interview.
