We are looking for a Category Manager – IT Services who will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies, leading sourcing activities, and implementing contracts across Rio Tinto’s IT Services portfolio globally. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technology procurement professional with strong expertise in IT Services. You will enjoy working as part of the Global Technology Procurement team, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders to influence decisions, manage a strategic portfolio, and improve the value delivered by service providers. You have a passion for process improvement, supplier governance, and service transformation. Reporting to the Principal Advisor – Technology Procurement, you will develop and execute category strategies for IT Services, including managed services, professional services, support services, and project-based services. You will analyze the IT Services market, supplier trends, delivery models, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for optimisation, standardisation, and risk reduction. You will support stakeholder engagement plans and partner with business and technology teams to define demand, service models, and sourcing strategies. You will provide commercial leadership and guidance to the relevant stakeholder teams. You will build and strengthen relationships with key IT Services suppliers to improve service performance, quality, innovation, and value delivery. You will work with complex data sets to assess spend, demand, contract performance, and category improvement opportunities. You will work closely with sourcing specialists, legal, finance and other business partners to support an efficient end-to-end source-to-contract experience for all stakeholders. You will lead or support negotiation strategies, commercial approaches, and communication plans for RFPs, renewals, and supplier negotiations. You will drive initiatives to reduce off-contract spend, improve compliance to commercial agreements, and maximize commercial and operational outcomes.

Requirements

  • Significant prior experience in Technology Procurement, with strong category management expertise in IT Services
  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Business Administration or related field or a combination of experience and education
  • Ability to formulate and present analysis, recommendations, and business cases to support complex IT Services category strategies
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with end-to-end procurement processes, including category driven buying channels
  • Strong negotiation skills and demonstrated experience negotiating complex services agreements, statements of work, and service levels
  • Experience in managing large international projects with the ability to influence key stakeholders
  • Proficiency in using SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Fluency in French and English, both written and spoken.
  • Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position may require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams, or partners based outside Quebec
