Category Manager- Fine Jewelry

MejuriNew York, NY
$115,000 - $135,000Hybrid

About The Position

Since 2015, Mejuri has reimagined what fine jewelry can be in a modern world—shifting it from a traditional gift to to a personal choice rooted in self-expression. Founded by third-generation jeweller Noura Sakkijha, the brand was built on a simple idea: fine jewelry shouldn’t require a special occasion, and it should never come with guilt. It’s about celebrating yourself—your style, your life, your everyday. Mejuri meets customers where they are—online, in app, and through a growing global retail footprint of 58+ stores worldwide. Mejuri is also deeply committed to doing things the right way, with responsible sourcing, sustainable practices, and philanthropic initiatives that reflect our values and long-term vision. Job Overview The Category Manager is responsible for driving category growth and contributing directly to Mejuri's revenue performance. This role owns the full product lifecycle — from identifying white space and partnering with Product Development on new product introduction, to managing the assortment, OTB, and pricing, through to lifecycle exit decisions. You will use data, market trends, and customer insights to build and shape the category assortment — making bets on newness, filling gaps in the mix, and ensuring Mejuri has the right product in the right channels at the right time. You'll work closely with Merchandise Planning, Product Development, Marketing, and Retail to bring those decisions to life with commercial rigor and pace. This role sits within a lean Merchandising team and is well-suited for someone who thrives with high ownership, is comfortable operating in both a strategic and executional capacity, and has a genuine interest in building and shaping the merchandising function at a high-growth brand.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of progressive experience in Merchandising, Category Management, Product Strategy, or Commercial Planning within fine jewelry, fashion, luxury, or consumer goods with meaningful SKU complexity.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a category or portfolio P&L, including accountability for revenue, gross margin, and inventory productivity metrics (e.g., sell-through, turn, markdown rate).
  • Hands-on experience partnering with Merchandise Planning to build seasonal and annual forecasts, manage Open-to-Buy, and influence inventory flow decisions.
  • Proven pricing and margin management experience, including retail price setting, margin modeling, and execution of price changes across multiple channels.
  • Strong analytical orientation with a track record of using data (sales trends, customer insights, competitive benchmarks) to inform assortment, pricing, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Experience operating in an omni-channel environment, with an understanding of how assortment, pricing, and launches differ between e-commerce and physical retail.
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets proficiency, including financial modelling, scenario analysis, and large dataset manipulation; comfort working with BI tools and dashboards.
  • Direct experience working cross-functionally with Product Development, Planning, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Retail teams to bring products to market.
  • AI fluency: We're building an AI-fluent organization. We welcome candidates at all stages of their AI journey — what matters is curiosity, a willingness to learn, and an openness to working alongside AI tools as part of how we do our best work.

Responsibilities

  • Execute a 360-degree category strategy — assortment, pricing, promotion, and distribution — to meet and exceed revenue, gross margin, and inventory turnover goals across e-commerce and retail.
  • Collaborate with the Merchandise Planning team to build seasonal and annual forecasts, manage Open-to-Buy inputs, and ensure optimal inventory flow that supports sales while minimizing markdowns and obsolescence.
  • Act as the commercial lead in the Product Development process — bringing data-driven inputs on sales trends, market gaps, and customer feedback to shape new collections and product optimizations.
  • Continuously monitor the competitive landscape, market trends, and pricing strategies across fine and demi-fine jewelry, translating what you find into actionable recommendations for the broader Merchandising team.
  • Lead lifecycle reviews and make clear recommendations on discontinuations, obsolescence, and liquidation — partnering cross-functionally to execute.
  • Conduct rigorous pricing analysis on new and existing products, modeling scenarios to set retail prices that hit gross margin targets while maintaining competitive relevance.
  • Own the end-to-end price change process — data accuracy across systems, cross-functional communication, and timely execution.
  • Partner with Product Supply and Production to monitor costs, support cost target achievement, and uphold Mejuri's transparent pricing model.
  • Prepare regular pricing and gross margin analysis, including competitive benchmarks, and execute price changes as needed.
  • Define channel-specific assortment strategies that maximize conversion in retail and optimize performance online — ensuring the right product is in the right place.
  • Support the Merchandising GTM process, coordinating with Marketing, Brand, and Retail on product positioning and launch readiness to drive successful campaigns.
  • Build and deliver regular business reviews and hindsights for the leadership team — surfacing category performance, risks, and your recommended actions.
  • Own the accuracy of product data across merchandising and PIM systems — SKU details, attributes, and launch dates.
  • Partner with the VP of Merchandising on departmental and cross-functional initiatives, maintaining project timelines and preparing leadership updates.
