About The Position

Responsible for book classification, processing, repair and aiding of material within the department, as well as any addition need such as sorting, checking- in and research. Cataloger assists and take lead role during Summer Programs and special events. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have High School diploma, or equivalent (GED)
• One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.
• Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.
• Applicant must have current valid Class "C" Driver's License and be insurable.
• Must have high school diploma; or equivalent.
• Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training within first three months of hire date.
• Some knowledge of AACR conventions and Dewey classification.
• Effective working relations.
• Above average spelling, grammar and clerical ability.
• Effective and structural Organization skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Adept to data.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fix data on problem items coming from inventory.
• Supervise children in Porter Doss Building after school and assist patrons.
• Assist with training for volunteers and work-studies in Cataloging Department.
• Conducting Library's inventory.
• Photographic duties on some occasions.
• Maintain regular and prompt attendance; physically present to work.
• Performs after hours work as required (nights and weekends)
• Assist with emergency response as needed by city hall and local EOC.
