About The Position

This role involves operating CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues. The technologist will be responsible for patient positioning, selecting technical factors, administering contrast materials, and ensuring image quality. The position also requires maintaining equipment, managing supplies, and adhering to safety protocols, including radiation protection and infection control. The technologist will assist physicians with procedures like biopsies and follow specific protocols such as stroke protocols.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year job-related experience
  • ARRT in Radiology required
  • License, New York State License with IV certification

Nice To Haves

  • Completed formal training in AMA approved school
  • ARRT in CT desirable
  • Through knowledge of CT principles/procedures
  • One year experience as staff technologist
  • Comparable hospital setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Positions and transfers patients to the exam table.
  • Provides immobilization devices as required.
  • Selects proper technical factors on an individual basis and follows CT dose optimization.
  • Consults with physician and/or reads physician's orders to determine proper testing procedures according to established protocol.
  • Assists the physician in preparing and administering contrast material using the power injector.
  • Responsible for delegated areas of authority in the performance of routine or CT procedures.
  • Practices sterile techniques and prevents cross contamination. Adheres to Infection Control Policies.
  • When necessary, must transport patients to and from the Radiology Department.
  • Provides radiation protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards.
  • Follows all established stroke protocols.
  • Assists Physicians with biopsies and other invasive procedures.
  • Examining images to ensure they're usable before sending them to PACS.
  • Clean and maintains CT scan equipment and the power injector after each use.
  • Maintains CT scan supplies and making orders for supply restocks as required.
  • Use CT scanners to produce cross-section images of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
  • Operate CT scanners and associated equipment safely and in accordance with established policies and practices.
  • Able to keep radiation exposure to ALARA levels and use CT dose optimization for different age groups ad required.
