About The Position

Kean Miller is seeking a Lateral/Experienced Associate to join our Casualty and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Group in our Baton Rouge or Houston office. With 239 attorneys and eight office locations in Louisiana and Texas, Kean Miller serves legal counsel to industries driving the energy-belt economy. Our attorneys provide efficient legal services and practical advice to Fortune 500 companies, national businesses, and local companies. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of five (5) years of general litigation experience. Extensive experience in taking depositions, writing motions, and responding to discovery are highly desired. Our associates work closely with partners on all phases of litigation, including investigations, case reporting, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. Candidates should have excellent academic credentials, strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills. They must demonstrate the ability and desire to interact directly with clients and develop client and referral relationships. The role requires the ability to independently manage a caseload from beginning to end, handle court appearances and depositions, lead client communication, and provide meaningful updates. The successful candidate should have a track record of high achievement, a desire to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment, and the ability to work as part of a team. This position is based in our Houston or Baton Rouge office, and all candidates must be in good standing with the LA and TX State Bar.

Requirements

Minimum five (5) years general litigation experience.
Excellent academic credentials.
Strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
Ability and desire to interact directly with Kean Miller’s clients.
Ability to further develop client and referral relationships.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Good standing with the LA and TX State Bar.

Responsibilities

Work hand in hand with partners on all phases of litigation, from rapid response investigations, case reporting, discovery, and depositions, through trial preparation.
Independently manage a caseload from beginning to end.
Regularly handle court appearances and depositions.
Take the lead with client communication.
Provide meaningful updates to clients.
