About The Position

Kean Miller is seeking a Lateral/Experienced Associate to join its Casualty and Mass Tort Litigation Practice Group in its Baton Rouge or Houston office. The firm has 239 attorneys and eight office locations in Louisiana and Texas, serving as legal counsel to businesses in the energy-belt economy. Kean Miller provides legal services and advice to Fortune 500 companies, national businesses, and local companies, focusing on creating unique solutions, pragmatic strategies, and unparalleled value. The associate will work closely with partners on all phases of litigation, including investigations, case reporting, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation. Candidates must be able to manage a caseload independently, handle court appearances and depositions, lead client communication, and provide updates. The role requires excellent academic credentials, strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills, with the ability and desire to interact directly with clients and develop client relationships. A track record of high achievement, a desire to work in a fast-paced environment, and teamwork ability are essential. The position is based in Houston or Baton Rouge, and candidates must be in good standing with the LA and TX State Bar.

Requirements

Minimum five (5) years general litigation experience.
Excellent academic credentials.
Strong research, writing, communication, and advocacy skills.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Good standing with the LA and TX State Bar.

Responsibilities

Work hand in hand with partners on all phases of litigation, from rapid response investigations, case reporting, discovery, and depositions, through trial preparation.
Independently manage a caseload from beginning to end.
Regularly handle court appearances and depositions.
Take the lead with client communication.
Provide meaningful updates to clients.
Interact directly with Kean Miller’s clients.
Further develop client and referral relationships.
