About The Position

The Casual Support Worker (CSW) at Threshold Housing Society would cover positions in the Threshold Housing shared houses as well as the Supported Recovery Program. The CSW is responsible for providing a caring, supportive presence within Threshold programs and houses. The CSW will provide support to youth, liaise with community service providers, ensure that youth service agreements are being honoured, and ensure that the house is secure and clean. This position is intended to cover shifts when full-time staff are off, which will include afternoon, evening, and overnight shifts, especially on weekends and stat holidays at multiple site locations around the Greater Victoria area. Working awake overnight shifts is a requirement for this position. Shifts will be offered in advance, when possible, with additional shifts offered on the day of. Pay range for this position is $26.74 - $31.00 /hour dependent on experience and related skills. Casuals receive a $2.00 premium in addition to the base hourly wage when working an awake overnight shift. The successful candidate can expect to enter the organization no higher than the midpoint of the compensation range.

Requirements

  • Possess a relevant bachelor degree such as Social Work or Child & Youth Care or relevant diplomas. Other combinations of education, experience and training will be considered.
  • Up-to-date Emergency 1st Aid certificate.
  • Able to provide up-to-date Immunization records, including TB testing, and Seasonal Flu shot.
  • Must have a Criminal Record Review Check completed by and satisfactory to Threshold.
  • Must sign Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement and Health & Safety Manual.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within the recovery and addiction community.
  • Knowledge of SMART Recovery programming.
  • Experience facilitating programming.
  • ASIST training.
  • NVCI training.

Responsibilities

  • Providing a caring, supportive presence within Threshold programs and houses.

  • Attending training regarding medication dispensing.
  • Working independently and as a member of a wraparound care team.
