About The Position

The Casual Labourer - Facilities position is a temporary full-time role, expected to last from approximately July 2026 to March 2027. This position involves maintenance and repairs to various buildings and structures, with a specific focus on external building repairs, drywall repairs, and painting. The role reports directly to the Facilities Supervisors within the Community Services Department – Property & Facilities Division at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid full class G Driver’s License and a clean driving record
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions and perform physical labour
  • Experience in building maintenance and repairs
  • Candidates are required to have their own safety boots.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Customer service experience
  • General knowledge of plumbing and electrical an asset
  • Pool and custodial experience considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Operating city vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Operating various construction equipment and machinery.
  • Maintain building cleanliness and sanitation including lobbies, washrooms, hallways, meeting rooms and the outside perimeter of the building(s).
  • Operating non-power tools (i.e., hand saw, bolt cutters etc.)
  • Performs preventive building maintenance duties such as drywall, plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Repair holes in walls and paint interior and exterior walls.
  • Work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned, in support of the City and Departmental objectives.

Benefits

  • $25.15 per hour, plus $1.85 shift premium where applicable
